Hello there! I'm Katherine Li, the proud owner and educator of Morning Star Daycare. I'm absolutely delighted that you've taken the time to visit us! Allow me to share a little bit about myself. I have the incredible joy of being a mother to a lovely 5 year-old girl. Being a mom is a truly rewarding experience, but I understand firsthand the challenges and difficulties that come with it. Whether you're a new mom struggling with breastfeeding your little one, a parent with an energetic toddler (believe me, I completely understand!), or a parent of older school kids in need of before and after school OOSH care, I'm here to offer my assistance and support.
Certifications & Experience
I have obtained a Certificate 3 and Diploma in Children's Services from TAFE, which makes me fully qualified for my role. Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood online, which allows me the flexibility to dedicate my time and attention to Morning Star Daycare. Additionally, I have completed comprehensive training in First Aid, including CPR, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis. To ensure the safety of the children, I possess an up-to-date Working With Children Check and a thorough Police Criminal Check. Furthermore, I have acquired a Food Safety Certificate and a Children's Sleep Certificate from RED NOSE Australia. Lastly, I have taken the necessary steps to protect myself and others by getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
I have a strong background in the field of childcare due to my mother's ownership of a Family Day Care when I was younger. This experience has provided me with a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in providing this service. Additionally, I have pursued further education and practical training in childcare by completing a Traineeship at a Childcare Centre and undertaking work placement at a Long Day Care Centre through TAFE.

Background
I was born in Seoul, South Korea. However, when I was just 9 years old, my parents made the decision to move to Auckland, New Zealand, so that we could be with my brother and me. It was quite uncommon at that time to see an Asian child attending primary school in New Zealand, so I often felt like the odd one out in my class. As a young child, I couldn't help but wonder why I looked and sounded different from the other kids. Despite the challenges I faced, I was able to adapt remarkably well and quickly to my new environment, all thanks to my curious, cheerful, and outgoing personality. Being an extrovert, I am down to earth and friendly, always eager to meet new people and embrace change. When I turned 13, my family relocated once again, this time to Sydney, Australia. Australia felt much larger compared to New Zealand, and I experienced a bout of homesickness for a few months. However, I soon adjusted to my new home and now I absolutely love living in Sydney. I consider myself an Aussie at heart! While I have fully embraced my new home, I am also deeply connected to my Korean heritage and I am proud to say that I am fluent in Korean.
Personal life
I am happily married to an amazing husband who hails from China, specifically Harbin. He had the opportunity to grow up in Japan and later moved to Australia before he began his high school journey. What makes him truly remarkable is his ability to speak three languages fluently: English, Mandarin, and Japanese. In our household, English serves as our primary language of communication, which we use to converse with our daughter on a daily basis. As a result, our home and family day care warmly embrace individuals from diverse cultures and languages. Regardless of age, children up to 12 years old will feel right at home with us. We are fully equipped to provide support to children from various backgrounds. Moreover, our daughter will be present in our Family Day Care, ensuring that your child/children have a delightful companion. She is an incredibly cheerful, happy, outgoing, and friendly girl who will warmly welcome all children.
Remarks
I possess a natural inclination towards creativity, excelling in visual arts and crafts. Additionally, I have a talent for singing, dancing, and music. This has fueled my passion for teaching children through engaging and innovative art and craft activities. Moreover, being a family-oriented individual, I deeply empathize with children and their needs.
